Hey runner π This weekβs edition of the newsletter features a race in Japan, a video testing what itβs like to run a marathon with(out) training, and more. Scroll down to the gear section for 15% off INOV8, and check out the P.S. at the bottom if youβre training for a half marathon.
Before we get started, Iβd love to knowβ¦

πΉ Watchlist: Should You Train For A Marathon?
I mean, we know the answer⦠Maybe that makes this an even better watch.
George Clarkey feels some FOMO after seeing so many people run the London marathon. So he decides to see if he can run the distance without training, too.
I wonβt spoil much more. The edit is great, and I promise itβs an easy watch. Get some popcorn and enjoy (and end up with even more respect for marathon runners!).

Aubrey Mvula has had a wild ride over the last 4 years. From sharing his perspective of running a race for the first time on YouTube, to many many shoe reviews, to slowly blowing up across various channels⦠and now, just recently, becoming one of the presenters of The Running Channel (see the announcement down below).
Iβve been a big fan of The Running Channel ever since I got back into running. I love their wide variety of topics and the various runners they represent. Thereβs almost certainly someone on their team you can relate to, at least in a way.
Aubrey fits the team very well. He seems like such an honest, real, and friendly person, who wants to focus fully on his passion: running (gear). Besides that, he has put in the damn work. Heβs been consistently posting on both Instagram and YouTube, and put in plenty of mileage. Heβs earned his success.
Iβm sure thereβs much more we can expect from Aubrey. Soβ¦ give him a follow.

π Events & Races: Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon πΎ
Japan has been at the very tip top of my travel bucket list for ages. Combining a trip there with a race? Even better.
But the Tokyo Marathon? Uff. With roughly 300,000 people chasing around 37,000 spots, the odds of getting in are somewhere between 8 and 10%. Pretty brutal.

Good thing there's an alternative: the Tokyo Legacy Half Marathon.
Now in its fifth edition, the Legacy Half takes you through the heart of Tokyo, with a start and finish inside the MUFG Stadium. The 2026 edition is on Sunday, October 18.

The course map
The Legacy Half is a newer race (this is the fifth edition). The field is smaller, and the odds of getting in are better for international runners than at the marathon.
If you're keen, you'd better sign up today. Because general registrations close on June 9. It is a ballot, but you won't have to wait long for the results as they'll be published on June 29.
And who knowsβ¦ maybe you'll bump into Jake Barraclough from Ran to Japan at the finish line. π

π½ Gear & Gadgets: This is About Running. This Is Not About Running.
Some of you may immediately think βCoach Bennettβ when reading that subheading. Others may think, βWhatβs that bullsh*t?β
Especially for Camp A, this is an exciting little announcement. Coach Bennett, the Nike Running Global Head Coach (and the voice of the Nike Run Clubβs guided runs), has written a book, and itβs now available for pre-order.
And if you, like me, are not really a pre-order-type-of-person, you may still want to give this Instagram account a follow. They promise there will be contests and giveaways. Knowing Coach Bennett (ehβ¦ well, not personally, but from his podcast), theyβre bound to be fun.

β¨ Wild Card: A Special Finish
All finish lines are great. But some are more memorable than others π

π The Finish Line
What a week. I donβt know where youβre based, but here in Portugal, itβs definitely summer. These blue-sky days are giving me SO much energy.
Donβt forget to join the free RunLetters Run Club for goooood running vibes. Next week, we have a fun mobility challenge coming up, where you can win a mini-course from my fellow coach James Wauchope!
Hereβs to a great weekend ahead βοΈ

P.S. This month, sign-ups will open for my Half Marathon Coaching Programme. You can find out more and sign up for the waitlist here. The earliest starting date for coaching will be June 29.
