Race season is in full swing. Everybody seems to be either racing, recovering, or tapering. There’s something about this time of year. The sun is back. The flowers are blooming. Many are smashing goals or challenging themselves. And I love to see it.

πŸ“Ή Watchlist: Half Marathon Redemption

2 years ago, I had just run my first official half marathon. I'd caught the race bug and wanted to see how much better I could get (in a ridiculously short amount of time: 6 weeks... yeah, coach Caroline does not recommend you try this, haha). I remember soaking up whatever half marathon content I could find on YouTube.

One of the videos that popped up was from Harry Morgan, where he tried to run a PB at the Bath Half Marathon but things went sideways. It was a great watch. It showed me that things won't always go to plan, and somehow that was reassuring.

And just this week... Harry is back for redemption πŸ”₯

A run with plenty of moments of doubt. And an ending that gave me goosebumps. If you've got a race coming up, this one is a must-watch.

πŸ“² Social Spotlight: Fast Marathoner Gabby

If you are a longtime reader of RunLetters, you know that the runners I highlight in the Social Spotlight are runners that will make your social feed a bit more inspiring, motivating or simply entertaining. No negative mojo, ever.

Gabby Hentemann is a prime example. And that’s why I’m featuring her today. She’s a pretty darn fast runner (her marathon PB is 2:34:26, don’t ask me to beat that) who, besides sharing hilarious carousels and reels, also raises awareness for eating disorders among runners/athletes. She’s real, authentic, and doesn’t hold back. And that’s why she deserves a follow.

The carousel below is a great example of her content. I promise you the 5 things are not what you think they may be…

πŸ—“ Events & Races: 4 Different Countries In One Trip

Pack your bags. You're about to run an unofficial half marathon in 4 different countries.

We all know the best way to explore a city is on foot. Even better: running! Covering 21k on foot is a lot, but when you're running, the time flies by.

This trip from Run Weekends takes you to Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest and Munich, with 4 nights on a sleeper train and 1 in a hotel.

In each city, you'll be taken on guided runs past iconic landmarks, historic architecture and scenic parks. The runs are all optional, so it's entirely up to you how many kilometres you end up covering. And between the runs? You'll get to dig into the local cuisine in each country. All meals are included, so no need to worry about where to go.

There's time to breathe too. Whether that's reading a book on the train, playing board games with fellow travellers, or soaking in the thermal baths in Budapest.

In my opinion, this is a great way to explore a bit of Europe, especially if you’ve never been to these countries! I personally have been to each of these cities multiple times (except for Munich) and can confidently say they’re all worth a visit.

🎽 Gear & Gadgets: Nike Pegasus 42

Pegasus fans, wake up. Edition 42 dropped. Yeh… 42. Isn’t that insane?

This is a very versatile daily trainer. The first reviews are positive. It’s nothing fancy or flashy, but just a solid shoe. One that works for a variety of runs. It may not be the bounciest or lightest, but it’s a good all-rounder, and it’ll probably make Pegasus fans happy.

Apparently, it also has a slightly wider toebox, which is almost always a good thing. Give that big toe SPACE to do its damn work!

I’m not a Nike-girl myself and don’t have any experience with the Pegasus line, but I know many who do and who love them. If you’re looking for a daily trainer, this one may be worth a look.

Retailing for $145 / €129 / Β£129!

✨ Wild Card: Carb Load Rules

There's a lot of running knowledge being thrown around on the internet and you always have to be careful who you listen to. But this short video from Cat Riona, where she debunks some popular carb loading advice, is pretty good. Worth a watch. Decide for yourself what you take from it!
