Hellooo runner π Iβve just landed in Berlin, where Iβll be running the Berlin Marathon this Sunday (not racing, just a relaxed run around town!) If you happen to be here too, let me know! Just hit reply on this email.
Alsoβ¦ I got married last weekend! Iβll share a sneaky pic at the bottom of this email for those interested. And of course, I went for a 5k shakeout before the wedding started, haha.
This weekβs edition is packed with inspiration, gear, and a chilly race to add to your calendar. Alright, letβs run with it ‡οΈ

πΉ Watchlist: Max Takes On Angeles Crest
Iβve already featured Max Jolliffe once before (King of Moabβ¦ if you havenβt seen it, go watch!). But this new documentary is just too good not to share.
The edit is creative and pulls you right in. Iβm not the biggest fan of the text overlays, but thatβs just personal. Overall, it is a short and super-inspiring watch (only 15 minutes).

Mary Denholm is on fire right now. She won the Leadville 100 in 2024, and just last week (Sept 12), she lined up for the Run Rabbit Run 100 in Colorado after only a 6-week training block. Earlier this year, she battled a hamstring injury and then an environmental mold exposure, which sidelined her through the spring.
But her training when healthy is huge. A marathon per day, often split into doubles, with some weeks beyond 200 km / 130 miles. Strength work twice a week and smart fueling help, but one of her real secrets is the LEVER system. It is a treadmill setup that reduces impact while letting her pile on aerobic volume without breaking down.
On Instagram, Mary shares thoughtful posts about deciding not to race, navigating injury and grief, and the joy of running. Plenty of topics every runner can relate to, whether you are chasing ultras or just enjoying the daily miles. Enough reasons to give her a follow!

π Events & Races: Run Over A Frozen Lake
Hereβs one for the bucket list. On March 28, 2026, runners will gather on Lake Tisleifjorden in Norway for the Frozen Lake Marathon. Yes, you read that right. The race takes place entirely on ice, about 80 cm thick, with snow-capped mountains rising all around.

You can pick your challenge: 10k, half marathon, or full marathon. The vibe is unlike anything else. No city streets or trail climbs, just endless white and the crunch of spikes on ice under your feet.
If youβre looking for a race that combines adventure, beauty, and bragging rights, this is it. Can you imagine telling your friends or family about you doing this race? (I certainly cannot, with my Raynaudβs syndrome, haha).
Limited spots are available, so if the idea of running across a frozen lake makes your heart race, this might be your spring destination.

π½ Gear & Gadgets: Coros Pace Pro
Not too long ago, I talked about the Coros Pace 3 here in RunLetters. Today, Iβm back with Coros, but this time βround itβs time to chat about the βbigger brotherβ: the Coros Pace Pro.
Itβs bigger, itβs faster, it has a better screen, slightly better battery life, and it feels more premium. Oh, and itβs got offline maps. All that for roughly β¬400 | $349 | Β£349.
Yetβ¦ I decided to keep the Coros Pace 3 (which retails for β¬249 |$229 | Β£219). Why? I explain that in my comparison video, which you can see below:

β¨ Wild Card: Running a Marathon With No Experience
My YouTube algorithm serves me the craziest mix of the running world. Crazy-fast marathoners, insane ultra runners, and 10k masters.
Every now and then, itβs so refreshing to see someone βstart from zero.β This video from Matt, which randomly popped up in my feed, was a welcome change. It shows Mattβs journey from βbarely running at allβ to running a full marathon. By day 10 of his training, his shins and calves are screaming, and you realize this is exactly why people need proper coaching and a well-paced build-up.
Anyway, it is a fun watch. And I hope Matt keeps training for his next marathon!

π The Finish Line
Thatβs it for another edition of RunLetters β
Wish me luck this weekend in Berlin β Iβm not racing it, but hey, 42km is still 42km!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend βοΈ Make sure to lace up those shoes and go for a (little) run!
