Hellooo runner! 🏃 I’ve got an action-packed edition for you this week. And we end it all with a sweet discount code (see The Finish Line!).
Let’s get started ⤵️
Table of Contents

📹 Watchlist: The Kid.
Raw talent, infectious passion, and pure grit. I’m talking about Hans Troyer, an up-and-coming ultra runner. If you’re into running YouTube, you’ve probably already seen this video of him, or at least heard about him. But if you haven’t, I’m excited to share this absolute gem of a documentary 💎
He’s only 25 years old and absolutely crushing it. Whether you’re into ultra running or not, and whether you consider yourself a road or trail runner, I promise you’ll find inspiration in this documentary about him.
I don’t think I need to say much more. Save this one for a relaxed afternoon or evening on the sofa with a proper snack and ENJOY!
Oh, and you can follow Hans on Instagram here.

After covering Hans Troyer above, I didn’t want to focus on another ultra-runner this week. But…. this Leadville 100 news has to be shared.
The Leadville 100 is one of the most well-known 100-mile races out there, and last weekend's edition made everyone's jaw drop. Not only did David Roche beat his own course record from last year, but the female record was also broken. "By whom?" I hear you ask.
Well, meet Anne Flower (@_flowpow_), a name you're going to want to remember. In what was her VERY FIRST 100-mile race, she didn't just win the legendary Leadville 100... she shattered the previous record set by Ann Trason way back in 1994. Anne flew through the "Race Across the Sky" in an astonishing 17:58:19. That's an absolutely INSANE time, and doing so in a debut 100-miler makes it even crazier.
Oh, and she was second overall in the race, finishing right behind David Roche and beating many men to the finish line. What?!
Go give her a follow. You won't regret it.
P.S. Can someone tell Anne to start a YouTube channel please? 🙏

🗓 Events & Races: The Ultimate Runcation? 🏜️
Have you ever dreamed of a vacation that combines a running adventure with a festival vibe?
Well, you can stop dreaming. Let me introduce you to the Grand Circle Trailfest in Kanab, Utah, organized by Vacation Races (a company that should be on your radar anyway, since they organize the most epic running holidays).
Each morning, you run a gorgeous, timed route in a different iconic location:
Day 1: A 15.7-mile run through the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon.
Day 2: A 10.4-mile run with commanding views of the sandstone towers in Zion.
Day 3: A 13.2-mile run through the famous slot canyons of Antelope Canyon.
Daily breakfast and dinner buffets are also included. And after your run, the rest of the day is for exploring the parks or relaxing at the base camp, which is buzzing with activity. We're talking:
Live music and a trail running film festival
Yoga sessions, gear demos, and expert speakers
A beer garden
And to top it off, you get a "Daily Runner Food Box" full of snacks at each finish line to help you recover.
I haven't been myself, but this festival earned a spot on my 'must-do-trips-list’.

🎽 Gear & Gadgets: Perfect Running Shorts
The quest for the perfect pair of running shorts can feel like a never-ending one. Many of them lack even the most basic features.
The other day, I stumbled upon a brand on Instagram that tackled this problem head-on: 262 CLO. It was started by Irish Olympian and elite marathoner Stephen Scullion (@lionscull). He was frustrated by the lack of functional, high-quality gear that met the demands of a serious runner. So, he decided to create his own.
Looking at their collection, you'll immediately see the main focus: smart storage. The 262 Pocket Shorts and 262 Pocket Tights both have a “wraparound mesh waistband” for gels and keys. Depending on the model, you will also have a pocket for your phone.
Most of the current lineup is geared towards men. They do have one option for the ladies, the 262 Ladies Pocket Shorts, but unfortunately, only size Medium is currently in stock. Fingers crossed for a restock and more options soon! 😉
I haven't tried a pair myself yet, but from everything I've seen, the quality looks good and the design thoughtful.

✨ Wild Card: Nicholas’ 100× 100 Miles
Imagine running 16x 100-mile races in a year. That’s Nicholas Steel for you. This 23-year-old guy is aiming to be the youngest to run 100x 100-mile races.
I can’t imagine doing even one of these. I also think many of us would never aspire to do so.
But what I like about Nicholas, is that he’s very much.. an underdog? Is that the right word here? He’s not pretentious. He’s not all over social media. He’s just a normal bloke that’s obsessed with running, and has already done 10, or 11?! 100-mile races this year
I do reckon one could make an epic documentary about what Nicholas is doing. Anyone interested? 👀
Shout-out to RunLetters reader Ryan for putting Nick on my radar!
